November 6th, 2009 by World Wide Ed

So by the time you read this, I will have probably picked up the new Motorola Droid phone with the rest of dem nerds early adopters. 8) I don't think I've been this excited for something to come out since the original Nintendo (after playing Super Mario Brothers on the FamiCom in Japan)! LOL!

Yeah, yeah, it's just a phone, and, YESH, I highly doubt that it's gonna be the iPhone killer that they want it to be, but to me, it's "the one"... at least I think so.

So in honor of this wondrous day, let's do a faves sound-off for your all-time favorite gadgets. In the comment area below, post your favorite gadget(s) in the history of your life the world. :P Add your personal stories for them for extra special brownie points. ;) And just a head's up, if one of y'all says "Pong" I'm gonna giggle. :P

    :D :D :D Happy VHO7V Friday Everyone!!! :D :D :D

    ... hey Ed ... favorite gadget huh??? ...

    ... I like say my computer ... is a computer a gadget??? ... nah too easy ... but with my computer I can ...

    1...surf da net for eye candy pictures ...
    2...get e-mail from my friends who send me eye candy pictures ...
    3...watch music videos with lots of eye candy ...

    ... ok, ok... I know you tired of me talking about that ... so I won't mention it again ... until the next time you post some eye candy ... :eek: ...

    ... my real answer is ... I say a PAGER ... back then we all thought is was so cool ... act like a doctor :cool: ... act like a drug dealer :shock: ... make you feel kind of important ... :roll: ... and way better than carrying around that white brick first generation cell phone ... :lol: ... but then again, by today's standards ... pretty lame now ... but it was so great back then ...

    ... and another cool thing ... no need return the call right away ... just say "Sorry mom, I couldn't get to a phone" ... ;)

    ... Have a Good One Everyone!!! ...

  2. hemajang:

    My first "gadget" was a 9-volt transistor radio from Arakawa Store that I listened Islander ball games with Les Keiter and KPOI with Tom Moffatt and the poi boyz....one fo da money, two fo da show, tree to get ready and go, go, go...

  3. M:

    Good morning Ed!

    I been attending a presentation and meetings on a fairly new technology product that will change the way we do things now. I can see this product in every household in a few years. I'm jumping in now so when this product catches on, I will be in the right position to my big bucks.

  4. M:

    opps, to make my big bucks.....

  5. NeedaHobby:

    So, did you get it, did you get it?!? Hubby was gonna go and try and pick up a Droid this morning too. I hope the lines are not too crazy and he gets one.

    This post is going to bring out our geek, I mean, tech savvy qualities. :lol: Early Nintendo, huh? I could play Tetris for hours. Now, I enjoy playing the Wii.

    I also agree with you on the HDTV! I geek out during the football games or when the Prius or ABC commercials comes on. Everything is so crisp and clear! Also, I love when watching the surf reports, that you can actually see the ocean spray!

    Other than that, gotta list the iPod and DVR.

  6. kako mochi:

    good morning everyone!

    i would have to say my #1 gadget thingy would be my iphone :) i use it more than my laptop...since i don't have to start it up everytime i want to check something!

    other than that, i'm really not a gadget person...i'm more of a shoe/clothes/purses person! LOL

    have a great weekend everyone!!

    One of my favorite gadgets is this old Seiko wrist watch my grandfather gave me for graduation (not sure if it was high school or college either way it was a long time ago). This watch didn't run on batteries so you had to wind it but it looks nice. About 5 years ago it finally broke, I didn't want to pay to get it fixed and with cell phones I don't really need a watch. When I have to go out and dress up like wear a suit or a tux I still wear the watch even though it doesn't work. When someone asked me the time they taught it was strange that I had to look at my cell phone instead of the watch. I had to tell them my watch doesn't work.

  8. pink lady:

    i thought the commercials for the motorola droid were pretty neat. we turned on the tv in the middle of one and thought it was an alien invasion movie. i really want an iphone but i'm with t-mobile so i guess the next best thing is the mytouch? have you heard anything good about it?

  9. kuya.d:

    Sony Discman - better than Walkman cassette players except when they would - when they would - when they would •skip• ...

    Bose speakers - how da heck do those little boxes put out such awesome sounds? I have some Bose in-ear headphones and the sound smokes the iPhone earbuds.

    iPod nano - so much music in such a small device. What the heck was I thinking by listing the discman.

    iPhone - the convenience is ridiculous. Who needs a computer? (I'm becoming an apple homer).

    Motorola Slver - this phone was teeny and it was the first phone to utilize iTunes, but it could only hold 100 songs ... when the ADD kicks in, that's just not enuff tunes.

  10. kuya.d:

    @Ed - please share your finds about your Droid. That commercial they ran with the list of "idont's" really grabbed my interest. Maybe I'd be willing to make the switch?

  11. zzzzzz:

    My cordless electric drill/driver.

  12. tita leerz:

    2. Like ZZZZZZ...cordless drill/driver. Yes, I have my own. It's a Ryobi, but it works.
    3. Calculators...yes. Did you know that 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9=45? LOL. And this one is for RAYBOYJR: 55378008. teehee!
    4. Food processor/blender/that little food chopper from Pampered Chef...yes, I'm so easy to please. I love kitchen gadgets.

    Haven't heard much about it pinky, but then again, I haven't been reading anything other than Droid info. Haha! They have a lot of "stars" backing it though. Must be pretty good. Funny, the guy ahead of me in line said he was with T-Mobile but coming over for this. Hmmm. Sign perhaps? Not shua!

    * 9.kuya.d:
    Sony Discman - better than Walkman cassette players except when they would - when they would - when they would •skip• ...

    LOL! I seen one old guy actually jogging with that thing. Looked heavy/bulky, but I guess he really liked that CD. :P

    * 19.kuya.d:
    Since we bringing back the #talk, just a friendly reminder to Team WWE -----> 3507, that's what going happen to you!

    LOL! Bring it on yo!!! I'm bringin' da tundah! (didn't know how to write that in numbers! LOL!)

  21. Stickit:

    Eh Ed, call or e-mail me, I'm thinking about the T-mobile Cliq...yes, I know...T-mobile, but I've been a "loyal" customer for double digit years, and wanna know how the Droid is before I make a decision either way. One thing though, I refuse to drink the cool aid of the iphone! hahaha.

  22. tita leerz:

    yo 58008 918! how long were you staring at your key pad trying to figure out "tundah?" LOL

  23. EMM386:

    Cellphone, laptop and PSP. Especially the PSP these days. The game Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman! What Did I Do To Deserve This? is still kicking my a$$ and I have a deep burning need to start kicking back. I'm also enjoying Monsters Deluxe on PSP.

  24. mcat:

    oh hard to choose!

    i was excited about my 1st laptop! and my 1st cell phone... before that we had the pagers, haha! I used to love my portable cd player, now people have ipods... and yes, my digital camera! loved the idea that you can see the picture right after you take it! :)

    have a great weekend!

  25. kuya.d:

    Sheesh ... How would you #spell tundah? @Leerz, can you do it?

  26. kuya.d:

    How come no one mentioned the jump drive? Or better yet .... the floppy disk - awwwww yeah!

  27. BananaFysh:

    Got my Droid too! :D

    I lurve it! ;)

    First impression out of the box: This mofo is HEAVY! Feels like it's built like a tank.

    But I'd have to list it among my favorite gadgets right now. ;)

    My others:
    HDTV! :D - Where have you been all my life?! ;)
    Asus netbook - so small and portable. Just need to tether it to the Droid, and I'll be set! ;)
    DVR - I can't imagine EVER going back to a VCR!!
    I don't know if it's considered a "gadget," but I GOTTA have a pocket knife on me all the time. Currently my EDC (EveryDay Carry) is a Benchmade 942 Osborne with partial serrations. LOVE this knife! :) (I'm not a psycho! I promise! Well, mostly not. hehe)

  28. ElTee:

    Gotta agree with the original Nintendo. I was a "late bloomer" with the Nintendo, so used to go over to my friend's house to play Super Mario Bros. When I finally got it, it was 24/7 Mario!

  29. tita leerz:

    @kuya....337...that's all i could come up with. LOL
    @banana...your benchmade reminds me that i should also be thankful for the leathermens. ...before that it would have been a butterfly knife. ;)

  30. kuya.d:

    What about those crank flashlights and crank radios ... perfect for emergencies?

  31. kuya.d:

    @Leerz - I see where you going and yeah, YOU are tundah ... no doubt about it!

  32. Coconut Willy:

    Mr. Ed. I pegged you as an iphone guy. Or did you switch?

    I'm pretty jealous of your droid. I switched to Verizon about 6 months ago. Had to get away from the gawawful TMobile coverage. I would be an early adopter if I could afford it. I liked the Storm but got the Samsung Omnia for $19.99. OK phone but not too user friendly. And Verizon is expensive! Oh well, the Droid will be free by the time I renew.

    And what's wrong with Pong? If you got an Atari at 15 years old in the eighties, you were stoked! And don't forget Space Invaders and Missle Command.

    The original NES kept me up till 3am many a night. Link and Donkey Kong.

    I bought a BMW in 1990 and that was MY gadget until the family came.

  33. World Wide Ed:

    Next time I see you, you can checkum out. Somebody else asked me about the Cliq too. Must be something to it? :)

    * 22.tita leerz:
    yo 58008 918! how long were you staring at your key pad trying to figure out "tundah?" LOL

    LOLOL! I actually attempted to start, but then gave up halfway through. Hahaha!

    * 23.EMM386:

    Never really got into the PSP EMMbot, but whenever I watch the niece or my friends play with it, it looks fun! :)

    * 24.mcat:
    and yes, my digital camera! loved the idea that you can see the picture right after you take it!

    Oh yeah! That's like the best thing about those things McCat! Too bad I can't convince my 'rents from moving away from their old school point and shoot. *sigh*

    * 26.kuya.d:
    How come no one mentioned the jump drive?

    Ho, that one is money too. Just think, 10 years from now, storage stuffs l'dat are gonna be like the size of a penny. :P

    * 27.BananaFysh:
    Got my Droid too!

    I lurve it!

    First impression out of the box: This mofo is HEAVY! Feels like it's built like a tank.

    I hear ya! And with the case I got, it's extra heavy. My intial impression of it is that I needs ta buy an extended battery if they got it. Mine's drains soooo fast! You too BF(F)?

    * 28.ElTee:
    Gotta agree with the original Nintendo. I was a "late bloomer" with the Nintendo, so used to go over to my friend's house to play Super Mario Bros. When I finally got it, it was 24/7 Mario!

    "late bloomer"!!! LOL! Too funny ElTee! Yeah, Super Mario was friggen addicting!

    * 30.kuya.d:
    What about those crank flashlights and crank radios ... perfect for emergencies?

    We get on dewz. Not sure if it's just ours or this is how all are but we gotta crank um often (radio dies fast)...

    * 32.Coconut Willy:
    Mr. Ed. I pegged you as an iphone guy. Or did you switch?

    Nah, I refuse to switch to AT&T just for the iPhone dubbs. This Google-ized phone may be right up my alley... we shall see! :)
