Fave Five Friday - Hawaii Television Stations

July 18th, 2008 by World Wide Ed

*yawn* Sorry for the late post, but The Dark Knight took a toll on me last night. If you weren’t one of us nerds who saw it last night, I would recommend watching it. Great action, out of this world acting by the late Heath Ledger (the Joker), and decent storyline. Just prepare yourself for 2 and a half hours of movie time. *stretch*

Anyway, it’s Friday again, and that means the ever-popular (in my own mind) Fave Five Friday. Since we did Hawaii Radio Stations last week, let’s do the next logical thing and do Hawaii Television Stations. I’ll start again… Hurr we go!

  1. Spike TV - The Ultimate Fighter, anything UFC, Manswers, need I say more? (Oceanic Digital Channel 0559)
  2. HDNet - Inside MMA, HDNet Fights, Mark Cuban owned. Nuff said. (Oceanic HD Digital Channel 1355)
  3. ESPN - Anything sports… yeah YEAH! (Oceanic Digital Channel 0222 or HD Channel 1222)
  4. Versus - To get my WEC fix, as well as TapouT (Oceanic Digital Channel 0210 or HGOLF 1216)
  5. VH1 - When I wanna get my reality on like Donkey Kong (Oceanic Digital Channel 0591)

Other situational favorites include A&E: more reality programming including real estate stuffs (0547 or 1547), the Premium On Demand Channels (HBO On Demand, Showtime On Demand, etc.), Food Network: when I stay hungry or for recipe inspiration (0321 or 1321), TBS: Office reruns, My Boys, etc. (0551 or 1551), OC16 (0016 or 1016), MTV: Hills… did I just say that? (0593), ESPN2 (0224 or 1224), ESPN News (0225 or 1225), Fox Sports Net West (0226 or 1226), CW: Beauty & the Geek! (0093), HD PPV: ordering fights (1700), Starz: good kine movies (0655 or 1655), Comedy Central (0545), and any of the Broadcast Network Channels: news, talk shows, special events (0003, 0006, 0007, 0008, or 1003, 1006, 1007, 1008).

Shoots! Happy Aloha Friday gang! Have a great weekend!

P.S. No fo-get to order and/or DVR the insane weekend of fight programming too (Affliction, UFC Fight Night: Silva vs. Irvin, etc.)! K!

  1. Miss Pris:

Glad to hear the movie was good….I’m looking forward to seeing it soon!

I don’t really watch that much tv….but when I do turn the tube on, here’s what stations I usually turn to first.

VH-1 Classic - I love how they have the 80’s music blocks in the mornings.

MTV or MTV2 - I just love watching Run’s House, Jackass, Wild Boyz, and Punk’d

HBO (all channels) - cause they usually have pretty good movies on, plus I can’t stand commercials

Spike TV - whenever I wanna catch the reruns of CSI this is where I turn to

BETJ - every morning I like to watch the show “Soul Food”

And a few others I like to watch are A&E (for the show “Intervention”), E! (for the latest gossip on celebs), and CW (for “One Tree Hill” episodes)

  2. hemajang:

    Like sports so,

    ESPN, etc.

OC16, for local high school sports and programming like “braddah & friends, eh u da kine, ah? and the fitness show w/champ.

K5, for sports and news (I’m waiting for the day Stephanie Lum drop that perpetual smile for just a second)

Olelo channels 52, etc. for neighborhood board meetings, legislature & city council stuff. I don’t see it on too often lately but the Ewa Beach NB meetings can get pretty intense with their combative residents. I guess you could call this a local sports station with all of the overt and subtle battles going on.

    Bravo, for movies.

OK, I think I’ve learned my lesson. Post early on a Friday or don’t post at all. Nobody stay reading! Hehe! Thanks for the comments from you two though! ;) Have a nice weekend!

That’s about it… until Lost comes back on ABC!

  6. skycastles:

I’m not sure I have fave stations, although I do have tons of fave shows (topic for next Friday?). Mostly I watch:

CBS - for the crime shows
ABC - Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice
Food Network - Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives
    TLC - Jon & Kate Plus 8
E! - for pretty much anything

  7. Kel Sr.:

    Aloha Ed,

You know the deal, gotta watch dem Korean & Japanese programs!

Without Oceanic, where would any viewer be?

  8. Reido:

I’m a channel surfer, so I usually scroll through the HBO channels first to see if there are any good movies on. If nothing, I’ll start at 560 and go down through Spike, TNT, TBS, etc to see if there’s anything good there. If not, I check out 222, 321 and 333 - ESPN, food channel and discovery channel. If nothing, time to go to sleep!

Above is when I’m channel surfing. I usually watch the channel 3 news at 6:00. My wife has some favorites too, so I don’t always have a chance to surf.

  9. Naurene Silva:

sick fight with silva vs. irvin!!! he got caught!!! i love UFC and hope one day to attend one in Vegas. thanks for the line up!!

I like Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and Good Eats as well. I guess I gotta give the rest a try.

Wow, this show really seems to be making its mark on these WWE readers. Might have to start DVR-ing and watching it more regularly. :)

    I’m telling ya! Hehe, nah!

    * Reido:

    I hear ya Reido! ;)

    * Naurene Silva:

sick fight with silva vs. irvin!!! he got caught!!! i love UFC and hope one day to attend one in Vegas. thanks for the line up!!

No doubt! Silva is unreal. One piece of advice for watching UFC live. Don’t be cheap and buy the nosebleeds. I made that mistake once. Splurge (as long as it’s once in a while and you can afford it) and go for the medium to close range seats, whatever you can afford. The nosebleeds is too far and so not worth it. You’re better off ordering it at home.

  11. leerah:

i know. three days late. but i wanted to say that i cannot watch foodnetwork when i’m preggos…cause it gets me all hungry for stuff i cannot eat. like there’s no way i can watch iron chef when morimoto is on or when there’s seafood cause i’m gonna wanna head out to tanioka’s or doraku’s for some raw seafood! anyway,
